Cedric Benson Serving His Time

31 08 2011

It was announced a couple of days ago that Cedric Benson had been sentenced to 20 days in jail for two misdemeanor assault charges. It was believed that Benson would surrender himself for the term during the Bengals bye-week but Cedric thought it would be best to get it done before the regular season. Because the sentence is 20 days it is possible he will miss week 1. But because of the circumstances in Texas, for good behavior, he can be out in as little as 7 days. If you drafted him to anchor your RB’s, just keep an eye on the situation. And it might be wise to pickup Bernard Scott. If given a chance, Scott could open some eyes.

UPDATE: After only 5 days, Benson is free to return to the Bengals. He was a model inmate and did extra work to afford a couple extra days off his sentence. Good for Benson. But I have a hard time with the notion that inmates can get off early for doing extra work like mopping…
