Tebow, coming off his fourth win in five starts is still on the hot seat. Mostly because he struggles to get the ball into the his receivers hands at times. But you can’t argue the results thus far. He’s 4-1 as a starter this year. A winner. And lets also remember that he’s been doing this all without the help of Brandon Lloyd, whom they dealt away after just giving Tebow the starting nod.
One would also say Denver had another player that was deemed a winner and is forever beloved by the fans. His name is John Elway. Whom everyone knows and respects for having such a brilliant career, capped off by a pair of Super Bowl wins in the late 90’s. But it wasn’t always so great for the future HOF’er.
I was stunned to see this stat posted on television. And later someone made a nice screen capture which I am now sharing. It’s pretty telling to me and should make naysayers of Tebow take pause. The QB position is a work-in-progress. It can take a couple of years to get going, just ask Alex Smith.
Anyways, here it is.
Crazy! Elway was flat terrible in his first 8 starts. When did it change for him? I need to go find an NFL historian to answer some questions about Elway.
In this day of instant gratification, we can’t let players develop like in the past. For goodness sakes we can’t even let a television show go past three episodes before yanking it off the air because of ratings. Don’t get me started on all of the shows that get canceled before they are even given a shot to succeed.
By the end of this year, we will be able to see a progression of Tebow’s quarterbacking skills. If he gets even marginally better at delivering the ball to this extremely young group of receivers, he’s got a chance to be really special. And I don’t want to hear all of that talk about what teams he has played thus far. What does that mean? Isn’t this the NFL of Any Given Sunday? Heck, the Ravens have lost games to the Jaguars and Seahawks. Guess that means they are terrible also. Anyway, you get my point. Even if the teams the Bronco’s have beaten aren’t great, at least they are winning those games.
I am rooting for Tebow, can’t help it. After all, it does seem like God is on his side, doesn’t it?

UPDATE: I went and looked at one other QB in the HOF. From what I can gather on my own, his stats thru his first 8 starts are as follows. Extra credit points for those that can guess who it is! I believe Tebow resembles his style a bit more. Hooray, Chuck answered the question. It was in fact Steve young. And now that Tebow has had another win and another turnover free game, his stats are looking that much better! TEBOW
Passing: 1438 YDS, 5 TD, 9 INT Rushing: 386 YDS, 3 TD Record: 1-7
Fantasy Football Junkie 
They need to employ two tight end sets regularly for blocking and check downs and with that plus a WR who can really stretch the field with his speed I see no reason why Tebow and the Broncos can’t be successful. He’s an awful passer for slant route receivers, but from what I can tell he’s not too bad with the long ball.
I agree Frog, his long ball is the best looking throw he’s got. It really is too bad that Lloyd was traded away, he was the downfield threat the Bronco’s need to keep defenses truly honest. Although Decker seems to get open down the field a lot. He’s faster than most people are giving him credit for. Tebow missed him for a bomb in the last one that would have been an easy TD.
Would that be Steve Young?
