This Just In: Dallas Clark Out Indefinitely

21 10 2010

Just getting up and noticing that my stud TE Dallas Clark is going to be OUT indefinitely with a hand/wrist injury that may require surgery. It looks like it’s going to be at the very least a few weeks and could be more up to 6 or seven. Not good for one of the top 3 drafted tight ends. Luckily there are some solid replacements, but none can replace the solid Clark. The injury bug has bit some really good TE’s this past week with Cooley (Concussion), Antonio Gates (Toe), Dallas Clark (Wrist/Hand) and Jermichael Finley (IR). I will be tuned into Stephania Bell’s injury report blog to get the latest on Clark’s injury.

For deep league fill ins, here are a few names to keep in mind…

1. Fred Davis: He filled in nicely last year when Cooley went out and started the last nine games of the season and showed flashes of why the Redskins used a high pick on him. He has that much more experience going into his second season and is now a much better pass blocker. He was already a good pass catcher, so look for him to be on the field a ton this week.

2. Brody Eldridge: For you Clark owners. Now it’s a tough situation for us. For one, we already had to pick up someone from the FA pool just to fill Clarks’ absense this week because of the bye but now we need someone for week 8 and beyond. So far Brody has been starting games along with Clark and has seen some good action as a rookie. He is really big at 6’5″ so that’s nice for upside and gives Manning a huge target. If you can stash him away, make a move now. Some Colts fans may think it’s Tom Santi who steps in, and that could be the case. But so far this season it’s been Eldridge out on the field. UPDATE: Thanks to fellow league manager Morty, another TE in the mix is Jacob Tamme for the Colts. He could be the guy taking the place of Clark.

3. Donald Lee: I know when Jermichael Finley went out that a lot of owners went and got Andrew Quarless but lets not forget the aging vet Lee. He has been with the Packers a long time and could show his veteran savvy. Now, don’t get all crazy, he’s never been a huge pass catching threat but the Pack do throw the ball a lot so this is for deep leagues only!

Thanks for the updates. I’m a colts fan myself and man we have been ravaged by injuries so hopefully one of the young guys step in nicely.

I live in Indiana so I root for the Colts on the AFC side. Losing Clark will hurt most and losing Collie is also big but not as big. Hopefully Anthony Gonzalez comes back strong in week 8 to take that slot position. Otherwise, it will be a healthy dose of Blair White!

I’m skeered for my colts..lol btw I picked up Chris Ivory. I dont trust that he’ll be great to hold onto but assuming he starts this week against the browns and does well he might make some prime trade bait. Who knows he might just take over as the starter but its all pure speculation and speculation don’t compare to domination..lol

Good pickup on Ivory. I think the Saints will keep both Bush and Thomas out till after their bye in week 10. Especially if Ivory can handle the load till they get back. But when Bush gets back he’ll be relegated to third back. Bush just makes everyone on that team better.

I think so to unless Ivory can do well enough to make them want to put Ivory in the 1slot, but thats a BIG if..lol

Well, he did show some life last week so it could happen for the guy whom a lot of people drafted but has showed little to this point. Someone from that cast will crack the top 30 for sure. I think it’ll be Knox.

Most likely Knox I agree. It’s so strange to me how aromashadu was supposed to be cutler’s favorite receiver to throw to and how cutler really pulled for him to start cause he like throwing to him. Then he guy drops a pass in the first game and gets benched into almost non existence..lol I even drafted him in the later rounds on most teams.
