Junkie’s Week 7 Thoughts and Ramblings

26 10 2010

Could I get anymore mediocre at this point? Well I guess it’s better than missing totally, but again, I went 3-3 on my players to start. I didn’t count Steve Breaston since he was inactive and anyone knowing the situation should have been monitoring it. The hits were San Francisco’s DEF, Darren Sproles and Fred Jackson. The misses were the Denver DEF, Ben Watson and Jason Avant. Although I said to start Avant in PPR leagues which he wound up being tied for 29th I believe. Not great but I almost counted it! Instead I went with the standard ESPN scoring where he finished tied for 32nd. Just outside the hit mark.

As for my league play, the Junkie went 3-3. I did say it was a mediocre weekend. I was able to scrape together a couple wins and also watch some devastating losses, one at the hands of Kenny Britt!

Now that we have that stuff out of the way, it’s time to ramble…

Effin Kenny Britt! Wow, did he have a monster game. This guy needs to be owned in 100% of leagues at this point. I told you to pick him up earlier and now look at him. It doesn’t matter who is QB at this point. It looks like he has blossomed into the #1 and Gage should be relegated to the #3 slot for the rest of the year.

Tony, Tony, Tony. Ugh, I have fantasy superstar, Tony Romo as my starter in two leagues and am just crushed right now. The Monday Night crew said this could be 8-10 weeks. One league is 2-5 now and not looking good to make the playoffs. But I hit the waiver wire tonight and am hoping to land some good fill-ins (Pick ups coming soon!). I never give up and there is still plenty of time to make a run. Think Arizona two years ago.

Some guys are just getting better and hope you have them on your team right now. Guys like Roddy White, Eli Manning, Hakeem Nicks, Dwayne Bowe, Steven Jackson and Adrian Peterson. And some of you are waiting for others to finally do something prouctive. Guys like DeAngelo Williams, Ray Rice, Wes Welker (with no Moss), Ronnie Brown, Knowshon Moreno, Steve Smith (CAR) and Beannie Wells. I will be making the case for one of these guys soon, maybe. Depends on his injury status for next week. Can you guess who it is?

What happened to the Saints this week? Brees looked awful but the DEF played ok. So don’t worry to much Saints fans. The best matchup nightmare in football might be coming back next week and that will go a long way to helping the offense get consistent again. And maybe if Pierre Thomas ever comes back they can look like a complete team again. Ivory is not the answer. He has talent but they need Pierre Thomas to evenly balance the attack.

Call me stupid but the Lions could win two out of their next three games. They got the bye week at the perfect time. Stafford is back and the rest of the team can get healthy. We are playing a not great Redskins team and home and Buffalo in week 10. I forever will be an optimist!

What a nutty weekend of football. I just can’t get my head around it all. That weird replay call that gave the Steelers a win. Ryan Fitzpatrick and the Bills giving all they got to a good Ravens team. Tony Romo breaking his collarbone. Lee Evans scoring 3 touchdowns. The Browns knocking off the Super Bowl champion Saints. Denver getting routed at home by the Raiders.

Any given Sunday. It’s why we watch.

Tough luck Frog, your thinking to realistically I guess. Sound logic of why you didn’t play him, question now is, can you afford to bench him?

The Nfl is getting “curiouser and curiouser,” as Alice would say… I’ve been patient with Shonn Greene, but I own him in a 12-team league with a short bench – should I bother holding him? Penny for your thoughts. Oh yeah, and check out the new post – I think you’ll enjoy it.

Good question. I would be curious of who you might be able to pick up to take his place. Or any chance you can trade him to LT’s owner?

just hang on to him or use him in a package deal trade..there’s generally someone who has weaknesses on their team like say runningback so maybe if you traded them green+ an average WR you can get a very good reciever out of the deal…you always get the best deals when you trade with the desperate..lol I just traded this guy Fred Jackson and Matt Ryan for Ahmad Bradshaw..then i picked Matt stafford off of FA to replace Ryan..lol

trading to LTs owner may be the way to go, and I could definately use a WR2. Maybe Orton + Shonn = top WR2? FFJ- i grabbed ricky this week to play with CJ at RB with McCoy on the bye. been using crabtree in flex…

I read a report that said Shaun will get used more from now on. They want to save LT’s legs for the post season

I also read that at ESPN Rumors but I’ve also been reading rumors of Frank Gore getting less touches and Bryan Westbrook getting more work and it hasn’t happened yet. I don’t trust coaches anymore. But it sounds like a good call. Just depends if they can get the lead up. I don’t think Greene gets a lot of extra work until the game is a definite win.

I agree..only thing is that green has been effective as a runner..i think he gets more carries but agree that they will do so under close watch..i totally doubt the gore thing though..i mean singletary is under fire as it is and he needs gore so bad right now..lol no way he does something as stupid to let westbrook take more carries..
