Deep Sleeper Potential… Griff Whalen

20 08 2012

I’m only saying to keep an eye on him. His name is Griff Whalen and he is currently battling in Indy for a spot amongst the wide receiver ranks and has a good shot to make the team. He nabbed 4 rec for 59 yards and a score in the second half of Indy’s second preseason game. And now that Austin Collie is out for now with a concussion someone will need to step up in his place. It was supposed to be Donnie Avery, but he is also out with an injury right now.

It also helps to mention that Griff played with Andrew Luck in Stanford the past three years. That probably gives him an inside track to making the team.

The other name in the mix for Indy is LaVon Brazill. He has apparently had a strong camp and could also be in line to win first team reps.

In any situation, I see the Colts having to throw a lot this season. Someone other than Wayne will have value in deep leagues, whether it’s Collie or not. This will be more important once the bye weeks start to roll around.
