Alfred Morris Part Deux

26 08 2012

I posted on the 18th of August, my first notice of Alfred Morris. He led the Redskins in rushing the first two weeks of the preseason and I asked everyone to watch the third game to see what could happen.

Because of injuries to Roy Helu and Evan Royster, Alfred Morris got the start. The Redskins played the Colts last night, so temper your enthusiasm a bit. But Alfred did take full advantage of his opportunity. He carried the ball 14 times for 107 yards with a score. Not bad for the sixth round pick out of Florida Atlantic.

Now, I would take him late in drafts. Before, he was just on watch, but now, I’m taking a chance on him. Heck, at the very least he will probably start a handful of games just because his coach’s name is Mike Shanahan. And we all know how much Mike likes to find stud RBs in the late rounds. It’s his favorite side-game in the NFL. Morris is destined to make some sleeper lists this season.

What this also does is lower my expectations for Helu, Royster and Hightower. I actually liked Hightower this year if he could recover from his injury and he also looked decent last night, muddying the backfield of the Redskins even more. Sheeeeesh.
